In case of a fire alarm, you must evacuate the building immediately. Emergency exits are located at the end of each hallway (red outside stairs).
In case of an earthquake, get under something solid (ie. table) to protect yourself from falling debris. Wait until the earthquake is over to evacuate the building.
In case of an emergency (fire, earthquake...), you must go to the Emergency Assembly Point (EAP), which is the grassy area behind the low rise buildings, on the side of the building opposite to Campus Drive (see the building plan).
If there is smoke from cooking, do not open your room door. Smoke in the hallway will trigger the fire alarms of the whole building and lead to a complete evacuation - not the best way to make new friends. Instead, open the windows to air out the room. Read more about fire alarms here.
If you are locked out, Housing Front Desk staff for your building can loan you a key for your room or apartment during normal business hours. After hours, you are encouraged to use the second key issued to you at check in (leave it in your office or with a friend). You may also call (650) 725-1602 for lockout assistance from the Housing Access Response Team (HART). You will need to present a Stanford ID or Government-issued ID to receive a key, and there will be a $100 charge for lockout assistance provided through the HART team. Please note that CAs do not have a key to your appartment, and will therefore not be able to assist you if you are locked out.
