Joe Roman

Joe's research interests include conservation biology, marine ecology, and marine-reserve design. Using molecular genetics, he has studied the population structure of alligator snapping turtles and the turtle meat market in Louisiana. As a research assistant for the North Atlantic Right Whale Research Project, he has radio-tracked right whales off the coast of Florida

Joe also works as a writer and editor, having traveled through much of Europe and the Americas on assignment. His work appears or is forthcoming in Audubon, Topia, and Wildlife Conservation. He believes he was the first person to hitchhike all the way from Goose Bay, Labrador, to New York City.
