Objectives

  • To promote the stated mission and objectives of NSBE on the national and regional level.

  • To provide programming that will promote academic excellence and insure recruitment, retention, and graduation of Black engineering undergraduate and graduate students.

  • To promote professional development through workshops and corporate networking that will prepare members for successful entry into the corporate/industry environment.

  • To promote community involvement and encourage black high school students to pursue engineering and science degrees.

  • To provide planning assistance, motivational support, and encouragement to our members as they confront the rigors of engineering and science study here at Stanford University.

  • To encourage culturally aware Black engineering and science students who recognize the importance of community development.

  • To provide resources for members to obtain summer internships, research opportunities, and/or available findings for summer course work.

  • To foster an environment of collective mentorship between undergraduate students and between undergraduate and graduate students.

  • To promote leadership skills that will allow our members to be leaders in NSBE, their professions, and their communities.

  • To keep members updated on the opportunities and resources available to them through NSBE on the national and regional level.

  • Stimulate and develop student interest in engineering and science

  • Strive to increase the number of Black students studying engineering and science at all levels

  • Encourage and advise Black youth in pursuit of an engineering or science related career

  • Promote public awareness of the opportunities in engineering and other scientific professions

  • Encourage members to seek advanced degrees in engineering & other scientific professions

  • Encourage members to obtain professional engineering registrations

  • Function as a representative body on issues and developments that affect the careers of Black engineers and scientists
