Have you been considering leaving your laptop at home and traveling solely with an iPad on your next trip? An article in the Chronicle of Higher Education, iPad: Traveling Cold Turkey, provides you with some insights with regards to the advantages and disadvantages of traveling with an iPad. The author, Louisa A. The point made about lack of multi-tasking in the iPad is spot on. It’s the biggest weakness of the platform and hopefully one that will be addressed sooner rather than later. The impending iOS 4.2 update is scheduled to arrive in November, however a little competition never hurt Apple. (Literally, in many cases!)

A related article from Walter Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal — who spent a 10 day working vacation with his iPad:

Thanks for the tip! I definitely have a lot of problems trying to use the iPad outdoors when it’s sunny.
