This list of simple implicative verbs was originally compiled at PARC for DARPA's AQUAINT project. For each of the 114 entries it gives the infinitive form of the verb, a syntactic subcategory, the fact_p classification to mark that syntactic form of the verb as one of six types, pp|nn (manage to), pn|np (fail_to), pp (help to), pn (refuse to), nn (qualify to), np (hesitate to), and an example sentence. Some of the classifications have a * to attached to them to indicate that we are not sure whether to mark the verb as a two-way implicative or as a one way implicative. For example, "Ed established that Mary had arrived" entails that Mary arrived. "Ed did not establish that Mary had arrived" invites the inference that Mary did not arrive unless it is explicitly cancelled as in "..but she had in fact arrived." The syntactic subcategories come from the English grammar used in PARC's Bridge system. The data is presented in three formats: .txt is a simple text file, .xlsx is an Excel spread sheet in MS-Office 2011 format, .prn is a formatted, space-limited presentation of the data suitable for web browsing.
