About

Katie is a rising junior, majoring in Product Design and minoring in Computer Science. She is fascinated with how design principles can be used to affect how people engage with technology as well as other people in different environments.

Katie's interest in education, particularly in regards to STEM education for young girls, has grown out of personal experiences from tutoring 5-10 grade girls in math and physics where she found that a majority of her time was spent building student confidence with the material and their abilities rather than teaching material. This interest was furthered after taking Why So Few? (THINK 46), a course on gender diversity and leadership taught by Shelley Correll.

Outside of the classroom, she is passionate about the viola and can often be found rehearsing with a music group or practicing in Braun. She also loves cooking, board games, and hiking.
