Major Research Projects:
The most important part of the designing education lab’s mission, is to do accurate and meaningful research to better understand the various aspects of engineering and education that we are interested in. Our research projects can be divided into three main categories: work with the Academic Pathways Study (APS), the Engineering Pathways Study (EPS) and our work as part of the Epicenter team. The Academic Pathways Study investigated why students choose to stay in or leave engineering programs. EPS investigated the career paths of new engineering graduations. And finally, our work with Epicenter investigates what role entrepreneurship can play in engineering education.

NSF Funded Projects
The Stanford Designing Education Lab is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded laboratory aimed at conducting research to improve engineering education at the undergraduate level. Currently holding over $1,000,000 in NSF funding, we work on projects to investigate the undergraduate engineering experience, how recent graduates transition into the working world, how entrepreneurship can play a role in engineering education and much more. All this is being done with the aim of improving engineering education in the hopes of creating more engineers prepared to tackle our world’s complex problems. As part of our mission, Stanford DEL wants to share what we've learned to better improve engineering education everywhere.
