HOTEL INFORMATION

Blocks of sleeping rooms are being held at the following local hotels.  You must identify yourself as an attendee of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) to receive the special rate.  All hotels have been alerted that some attendees will be staying for a second meeting so may wish to stay longer.  I did not list a second block name as this might confuse things.

Reservations should be made directly with hotels.  Individual hotels have different dates by which reservations must be made and different cancellation policies.

Sheraton Palo AltoSheraton Palo Alto is located at the corner of El Camino Real and University Avenue, at the edge of the Stanford University.  Sleeping rooms have high-speed internet access and the special rate per night is $149 for a single/double room plus tax.  To get this rate, please be sure to mention that you are part of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) group and make your reservations either by telephone (650) 328-2800, 1-800-325-3535, by email at: SheratonReservations@pahotel.com, or on line at Sheraton ReservationAt this time, rooms are on space rate availability basis. Please make your reservations AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  The Sheraton Palo Alto has a business center, restaurant and lounge on site as well as room service, pool and fitness facility. It is a pleasant walk from the Sheraton to the Stanford Campus.  Alternatively check with the front desk to catch the free Stanford Shuttle to campus that runs from the Palo Alto Caltrain Station which adjacent to the Sheraton Hotel.  Taxi is also alternative. The Westin Palo Alto is located next to the Sheraton near the corner of El Camino Real and University Avenue, at the edge of the Stanford University.  Sleeping rooms have high-speed internet access and the special rate per night is $199 for a single/double room plus tax.  To get this rate, please be sure to mention that you are part of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) group and make your reservations either by telephone (650) 321-4422, 1-800-937-8461, by email at: WestinReservations@pahotel.com or online at The Westin Reservation. At this time, rooms are on space rate availability basis.  Please make your reservations AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  A boutique hotel with only 184 sleeping rooms, The Westin Palo Alto has an in room fax/copier/printer in addition to a hotel business center, pool and workout gym plus lounge, restaurant, and 24-hour as well as room service. It is a pleasant walk from the Westin to the Stanford Campus.  Alternatively, check with the front desk regarding the free Stanford Shuttle to campus that runs from the Palo Alto Caltrain Station adjacent to the Sheraton Hotel.  Taxi is also an option. Stanford Guest House, 2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park is located close to Stanford University and adjacent to the Stanford National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC).  The Guest House offers comfortable rooms with private baths, internet access, plus a common area with kitchen facilities, laundry room and exercise room.  There is a complimentary continental breakfast, offered daily. Please note that smoking is not permitted in any building at Stanford University. The special rate for IEW attendees is $109-119. To reserve a room, identify yourself as part of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) room block and contact the Guest House as soon as possible by telephone 650-926-2800, (available 24 hours) or make your reservations on line and reference the group code, "IEW2011."  You may also contact the Stanford Guest House via e-mail at guesthouse@stanford.edu, or by fax at 650-926-5388.  Monday through Friday, attendees can catch the complimentary Stanford shuttle in front of the Guest House that will take them onto campus.  If you are driving, parking is available near the Guest House and if you enjoy exercise, you may consider the 30 minute walk to campus.  The Guest House shares an entrance with SLAC; so please be prepared to show identification with a photo to the guard when you enter the premises. For more information and online reservations please visit the Stanford Guest House.

Cardinal Hotel is a historic European style hotel located on the corner of Hamilton & Ramona in the heart of Palo Alto, 1 mile from the Stanford campus.  Offering comfortable, attractive rooms at affordable prices, the Cardinals special rate for IEW attendees is $125 plus tax for a single/double room with private bath.  European rooms with shared bath are available at $69.  To reserve a room, identify yourself as part of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) room block and contact the hotel AS SOON AS POSSIBLE by telephone at 650-323-5101, fax at 650-325-6086, or book through the web at Cardinal Hotel.   Wireless internet available, coffee service in lobby.  The Cardinal hotel is has a no-smoking policy in all guest rooms.  It is a brief walk to campus or attendees can catch the free Stanford campus shuttle at the Palo Alto Caltrain Station.
