This panel advises the CEC on ways to improve its methodology for projecting electricity and natural gas demand over the next ten years. Key issues include the incorporation of uncertainty into CEC's forecasts, the merits and limitations of statistical end-use (hybrid) modeling approaches, and the comparison of CEC approach and forecasts with those developed by the state utilities.]]>Thu, 07 Feb 2013 00:00:00 PSThttp://emf.stanford.edu/news/1823<![CDATA[EMF 29 Results Are Published]]>http://emf.stanford.edu/news/1824The EMF 29 working group has published its summary report and technical papers on the role of border carbon adjustment in unilateral climate policy in the journal Energy Economics. Border carbon adjustments are subsidies and taxes that protect energy-intensive industries from trade competition with industries outside of the particular country. These adjustments reduce the average emissions leakage rate in the reference case from 12 to 8 percent across the different models. <![CDATA[EMF 25 Summary Report: Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Mitigation]]>http://emf.stanford.edu/publications/22530, 2011
This report summarizes the major findings from an Energy Modeling Forum study on how energyefficiency opportunities will shape future fuel and power demand in the United States over the next several decades. It also incorporates supporting information from France, Japan and Switzerland. The working group compared the results from 10 different energy-economy models from seven scenarios where all teams tried to use common assumptions for key policy and economic factors.]]>
