Development of a Parallel Unstructured CFD Code for Hypersonic Flows Graham Candler Aerospace Engineering & Mechanics University of Minnesota My research group and I work on the numerical simulation of hypersonic and high-temperature flows. These flows pose particular challenges to simulations because of complex geometries, finite-rate chemical reactions, strong shock waves, and high Reynolds numbers. I will discuss recent progress toward the development of an implicit parallel CFD method specifically designed for these flows. I will then show recent results for several problems including the design of a Mach 10 hypersonic inward-turning inlet, the analysis of hypervelocity wind-tunnel nozzles, and the detached eddy simulation of jets in a supersonic cross-flow.
