Five Games Cancelled Due to COVID Concerns

STANFORD, CA —

Stanford University recently announced changes to their COVID policy in response to rising cases across the US. As part of the new policy, school-sponsored clubs are not permitted to gather through January 27, meaning that five of the seven upcoming January games on the Stanford Hockey schedule have been cancelled. In addition, the team is not permitted to practice or otherwise meet until the January 27 deadline.

While rescheduling the canceled games is possible, securing ice slots may be difficult. As of now the two games against Washington State on January 28 and 29 remain green-lit, and if Stanford Hockey is unable to schedule additional games in February and March, will be the last time the Cardinal takes the ice this season.

Below are the five games that have been cancelled:

Jan. 7 STANFORD vs. UC DAVIS

Jan. 8 STANFORD @ UC DAVIS

Jan. 14 — STANFORD @ SANTA CLARA

Jan. 21 — STANFORD @ SJSU

Jan. 22 — STANFORD @ SJSU
