Q&A: Finding United States government documents that Stanford has in microfilm and microfiche

Question: I'm not finding lots of US government publications that I think Stanford must own, and are maybe on microfilm in the Library. How do I go about finding what I need?

Answer: It's true that a large amount of US government publications here at Stanford aren't listed in the catalog, Socrates. You need to use other indexes and then find the microform sets within Socrates. The sets are cataloged, but not the individual items within the sets.

Here is a quick guide to the indexing collections of United States Government publications that Stanford has in microform sets.

Generally you will search Lexis-Nexis congressional and Lexis-Nexis Statistical databases for access numbers.

Includes in full text those passed and those not passed arranged by congress/date/house/senate, type of legislation.
