Art & Architecture Library Open House, Oct. 4 3-6pm
The Art and Architecture Library will be hosting an open house on Thursday, October 4th from 3 until 6 pm.
The event will be a fun opportunity for the Stanford community to meet the Library’s new staff and to view the inaugural show of its newly established exhibition program, “Revues: Vues Rares: Three Journals of the Parisian Avant-Garde, 1920-1949.” Over the course of the exhibition, the displays will be changed weekly to allow for a full view of each journal’s content. A secondary exhibition, featuring the Library’s collection of Guerilla Girls posters, will also be on view during the fall quarter. These ephemera from the 1980s document the activist group’s first actions toward highlighting the New York art world’s gender- and race-based disparities. The posters will be rotated periodically.
In addition, during the open house the Visual Resources Center will highlight its rich digital collections and the Library will screen art videos on its newly installed 42-inch LCD monitor. Refreshments will be served and prizes (art books!) will be awarded to a few lucky students.
ALL ARE WELCOME!
