Conferences of note

Two conferences of note:

LabMan 2008 is happening this year in MN. on June 2nd-4th, 2008. Here is the official announcement.

And of course, the other conference of note (which is much, much bigger, not to mention more Mac-related) is Apple's World Wide Developer's Conference (WWDC). It's June 9-13, 2008 in San Francisco.

Here's the blurb from LabMan:

The annual Academic Lab Management (LabMan) conference will be hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato in Mankato, Minnesota. LabMan is an informal, inexpensive, and friendly conference designed for people associated with the maintenance of computing labs in colleges, universities, K-12 school districts or libraries.

Attendees have the opportunity to meet their colleagues from other institutions across the US & abroad who, like them, face various challenges in putting together academic computing labs & other instructional technology environments for the wide variety of needs each institution faces.

The LabMan conference provides you with up-to-date information, education and resources on the latest developments in technology trends, technologies, application implementation issues, products and services from IT experts. The best part is the low cost of $110 for early bird registration. ($150 after May 2nd)

Here's the Apple blurb:

The groundbreaking innovations of Mac OS X Leopard and iPhone OS offer two revolutionary development platforms for developers and IT professionals. Immerse yourself with information-rich sessions where Apple engineers go in-depth on the innovative technologies that power the features of these sophisticated platforms. Bring your code to the Labs and work one-to-one with Apple engineers, applying development methods and best-practices you gain from sessions to enhance your application.

Regarding WWDC, Stanford affiliates should post on the Mac OS X SIG email list if they are interested in attending, as there are significant discounts for .edu customers. The price per-person is $995, but the 5-pack is $3,980 (or $796 per person).
