MS&E Pays Tribute to Nobel Prize-winning Economist Kenneth Arrow

MS&E Professor Emeritus Kenneth Arrow, who made far-reaching contributions to the fields of economics and operations research, died at the age of 95. His accomplishments and extraordinary scholarship are recounted by The New York Times.  Read more about his role in the Stanford community here.

MS&E Faculty News 

Professor Melissa Valentine and her collaborators recently won a best paper award for "Flash Organizations: Crowdsourcing Complex Work By Structuring Crowds As Organizations" at the CHI: ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2017. 

Professor Peter Glynn and postdoctoral student Chang-Han Rhee won the Outstanding Simulation Publication Award in December at the Winter Simulation Conference by INFORMS Simulation Society for "Unbiased Estimation with Square Root Convergence for SDE Models," which appeared in Operations Research.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Elisabeth Paté-Cornell was named a member of the NASA Advisory Council.

Congratulations to Professor Riitta Katila who was named Alumnus of the Year representing Aalto University's School of Science, for academic excellence in pioneering and exceptional work.
