²For network types with user-specified (as opposed to learned) connections, the user can have the network read the fixed connection values from a file containing a series of lines each containing a series of entries separated by white space. These can be real numbers, or any of these three shorthand entries: . (0), + (+1) or - (-1). The program also provides a facility for creating and saving such arrays by hand (the set by hand item in the Constraint popup menu). Once entered the user clicks ‘Done’, and saves the array to a file; the user must then select the ‘read from file’ option from the constraint popup and finally click ‘Ok’ to finalize the specification of the projection.
