The watercolor Winter's End uses the Lake Superior spring ice break up as a metaphor to represent the cold-weather dependent flora and fauna we are losing in Wisconsin as they migrate north following the lower temperatures. With climate warming, Lake Superior is no longer icing over. As we lose cold, we lose ice, and we lose the plants and animals that require cold to live.
