Stanford's
Killdeer may be better known to many by sound
than by sight, with their cries piercing the
evening quiet at Lagunita, or near the playing
fields and the Oval. Killdeer breed in fields,
meadows, pastures, and mudflats and along
freshwater margins so there is a good chance
that they breed on campus. There are, however,
no reported sightings of nests or young.
Inclusion of this image may serve to alert
birders to keep an eye out, and send in any
nesting information of this most vocal
shorebird.
