Object Name:
Figurehead
Object ID:
58.9
Case:
Last week, the inventory crew was most charmed by this small earthenware figurine head from Mexico (58.9). It is only about 8 cm across and is broken off at the neck from a larger figurine. Small ceramic figures are common finds across all of Mexico and Central America, where they are found in religious offerings, domestic sites, and mortuary contexts. We can't tell exactly WHAT this little creature is, however. What do you think?
