Key Note Speaker

Linda Darling-Hammond

Monday, August 3rd

Last fall President Barack Obama named our key note speaker, Linda Darling-Hammond, to lead his transition team’s review of education policy. Darling-Hammond, the Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education at Stanford, served as an advisor to Obama during his Presidential campaign. She played a lead role in shaping the President’s ambitious education plans, particularly his call to recruit and retain high quality teachers. Darling- Hammond has three decades of experience working to improve the quality of teaching in public schools. Her research and policy work have focused on issues of school reform, teaching quality and educational equity at the federal, state and local levels. At Stanford, she has founded the School Redesign Network and the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education. Darling-Hammond previously served as faculty sponsor for the Stanford Teacher Education Program and the East Palo Alto Academy High School.
