Participants are elegible to receive one Stanford Continuing Studies unit per Institute course, for a total of two quarter units. An additional $75 fee will apply if you wish to register for units. Transcripts are included in the unit registration fee. Units can only be granted to participants who complete the courses.


The 2009 Stanford Summer Teaching Institute is a four-day symposium.

Courses meet each day, and participants choose one morning and one afternoon session.

Regular registration fee, on or after
Monday, June 16, 2009: $250

The registration fee covers all Insitute
costs including:

  • Free Parking at Galvez Field

School Group Discounts:
For groups of five (5) teachers from the same school, we will rebate 5% of each attendee’s registration fee one week prior to the Institute.

Larger discounts available for larger groups from the same school.

From Highway 101 North & South
Take the Embarcadero Road exit west - toward Stanford. At El Camino Real, Embarcadero turns into Galvez Street as it enters the Stanford campus. Stay in the left lane and continue toward the center of campus.

The Alumni Center is on the right side of Galvez Street, just after you cross over Campus Drive.

From Highway 280 North & South
Exit Sand Hill Road east toward Stanford. Continue east, turning right at the traffic light on Santa Cruz Avenue. Make an immediate left onto Junipero Serra Boulevard. Turn left at the second traffic light and onto Campus Drive East. Continue around Campus Drive East and turn left when you reach Serra Street, at the gas station. Follow Serra Street until it ends at Galvez Street.

Public Transportation

To get to Stanford you may use Caltrain, the commuter rail service that runs between Gilroy and San Francisco, or VTA, the bus system for Santa Clara County. Caltrain serves two stops near Stanford: Palo Alto station and California Avenue station. Palo Alto is also served by over 10 VTA bus lines, with several lines stopping on El Camino Real and at the Palo Alto Transit Center. The Stanford Marguerite shuttle meets most trains and many buses at both the Palo Alto and California Avenue stations from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Lines A, B, and C will drop you off at the Alumni Center.
