resembles a mild form of Rotavirus gastroenteritis. Hospitalization is
very rare and death is extremely rare, though has been reported. |

Immunity probably lasts for
years. Most adults are resistant to experimental astrovirus infection. |

Virus shedding can begin a day or
two before and a day or two after symptoms. |
