Dautin August Eckers3 and
Esther Olivia (Rundquist) Eckers.
In 1930 Dale was living with his parents in a house at 7116 Minnetonka Boulevard, St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota, next door to his paternal grandparents. Dale was attending school. In World War II he was a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps, serving from February 26, 1944 to November 4, 1945. His wartime experiences and those of his then fiancé, later wife, Gladys Ady have been fictionalized in the 2011 novel Colors in the Air by Michael Eckers. Dale is called Dale Weldon in the novel. Dale married, March 1, 1944 in —, Hennepin County, Minnesota, Gladys Lorane Ady. She was born March 19, 1923 in —, Blue Earth County, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert H— Ady and Mabel L— (Baker) Ady. Children: Dale’s Social Security card was issued in Minnesota.He resided at 3421 Texas Avenue South from at least 1952-1962, shown as in Saint Louis Park through 1959 and in Minneapolis beginning in 1960. Gladys was stated to be living with him in 1952 and 1957. He was working for the Telephone Company in Minneapolis from at least 1952-1962. His occupation was given as switchman in 1952, as telephone employee in 1957, and as employee from 1959-1962. Dale was of St. Louis Park in 1973, when his mother died. Dale’s last address was 200 Holcombe Avenue, Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota 55355. He died March 9, 1997 in Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota. Interment was March 13, 1997 in section 1, site 829 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in South Minneapolis, Minnesota, where his grave bears a marker with the following inscription:
Gladys survived him and continued to live in their Litchfield home. Her last known address was 13012 June Terrace, Hopkins, Minnesota. She died Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Lichfield, Meeker County, Minnesota, aged 85. She was survived by her four children, six grandchildren, two great-grandsons, sisters Donna Grantom and Vivian Satre, and brother Robert Ady. She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson Todd Broberg, daughter-in-law Jane Eckers, sister Golda Brokke, and brother Al Ady. Services were held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Interment was in section 1, site 829 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in South Minneapolis, Minnesota, where her grave bears a marker with the following inscription:
