Richard Birch Eckers5, born
October 23, 1924 in —, Hennepin County, Minnesota, the son of
Bennie Frank Eckers3 and
Grace Edith (Birch) Eckers.
In 1930 he was living with his parents in a house at 2900 Ramona Avenue, St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Richard was attending school. In 1935 and 1940 he lived with his parents at 2900 Alabama, St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Richard served as a private first class in the U.S. Army in World War II, dying in the service during the Battle of the Bulge on January 7, 1945. His remains were interred December 8, 1947 at site 7301, section C-1, Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, South Minneapolis, Minnesota. His grave bears a marker with the following inscription:
