Brian is a poet, writer, artist and genealogist working as a library specialist From 1983 through March 1988 he was a volunteer at the J. W. Mailliard Library in the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, helping catalog the Charles de Young Elkus papers on American Indians. Brian was employed as a library specialist at NASA/Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, California, from August to November, 1984 and January to December, 1985. Since March, 1988 he has worked for the Stanford University Libraries, Stanford, California. In 1994 he established Fleabonnet Press, a small press imprint and electronic publisher specializing in his own works and those of the Spilt Ink Writers' Group, which he helped found in 1995.
