Oddzilla
by Brian Kunde

An undersea bomb
Mutates something lizardy.
Film franchise offered.

A wonderful life
Smashing and Bashing, but—
Cast as the villain?

Annoyed with treatment,
Hulking, flame-breathing monster
Flash-fries Raymond Burr.

Peculiar career;
Smacking down giant creatures
Amid quaint ruins.

Three-headed monsters!
Great big moths! King-freakin’ Kong!
WrestleMania?

Existential angst
Interrupts Armageddon.
Is this all there is?

Monster holiday
Admits time for reflection.
Contemplation. Zen.

Skip through Tokyo;
Pluck and eat the cherry trees,
And roar fragrantly.
