WRITING for REAL: Rhetorics of the Service-Learning Contact Zone
Part Two
Due Tuesday, April 8 (not graded)
Return to your contact zone for further consideration. From your personal point of view, explain in about 300 words which of your personal beliefs, moral, religious, or cultural values it speaks to. By personal "values" we mean those cultural attitudes, religious beliefs, moral ideals and/or social dispositions that surround your "reading" of any text, or any situation.
Now look one more time at the contact zone that you've chosen. Or, if you like, select a second contact zone that feels in some way related to the first. This time, analyze the incident from a broader perspective, one that relates to the broader, perhaps pervasive or dominant social or cultural values that it may suggest, What do you think the incident says, suggests, means? Why? This part of the exercise should run between 300 and 500 words.
Have fun! :)
