Multimedia Oral Presentation on an Aspect of the Research or Community Writing Project

Dates and Timeframes / Presentation Topics / Use of Multimedia / Resources / Inclusion in Portfolio

We're looking forward to hearing about and seeing some of what you discovered in your research!

DATES AND TIMEFRAMES FOR PRESENTATIONS

Each student will give a multimedia orl presentation during the final week of class. Whether your presentation will be scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 13 we will determine by drawing straws.

You will have a total of only 10 minutes for your presentation. Your actual presentation will run no more than 8 minutes; allow two minutes for questions from your audience. Rehearse your timing carefully! I will be ruthless about cutting your presentation off at 8 minutes!

PRESENTATION TOPICS

Focus your presentation on one particular aspect of your research paper topic, your Community Writing topic, your experience as a community-based learner, or your experience as a researcher. You will not have time in this brief presentation to cover your entire topic, your entire paper, or your entire experience, so don't try! Choose one aspect, and plan to make no more than two or three major points about it.

USE OF MULTIMEDIA

Plan to use at least one visual and/or audio media in your presentation. Many students opt to use Power Point as a software platform for their multimedia oral presentations. Although Power Point seems to be quite well suited to this purpose, you are certainly not required to use it. We can make many technology resources available to you:

€ Overhead projection screen

€ Projector for Power Point

€ PC laptop and cables to connect it to the projector (or you may bring your own laptop)

€ Projector for transparencies

€ Floppy disk drive, CD drive, and zip drive

€ Video player

€ Audio tape or audio CD player

Plan to come to class 15 minutes early on your presentation day to check your presentation set-up.
