ROUTE 1: La Orotava
- Icod de Vinos - Garachico - Masca
From Puerto de La Cruz, take the road to La Orotava
to visit the old city.
- Casa Torrehermosa (craft museum)
- Church of our Lady of Concepcion (18th century)
- Casa de los Balcones (17th century) - beautiful
canarian balconies and embroidery school
Continue to the perdoma, Cruz Santa, Los Realejos,
Icod El Alto.
- Viewpoint El Lance - spectacular view of la
Oratava Valley
Continue in the direction of La Guancha and Icod
De los Vinos, famous for its wines.
- Drago Milenario - the oldest dragon tree on
the island
- Saint Mark Church - inside is the magnificent
cross embossed with solid silver
Continue to Garachico. It was a busy port for
the island during the 15th , 16th, and 17th centuries, until it
was destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Arenas Negras in 1706,
which also destroyed a large area of the town.
- The old Saint Francis Convent (today, a town
council and museum)
- Los Condes de la Gomera Palace
- Church of Saint Ann (18th century)
- El Caleton - natural swimming pools with sea
water formed by the eruption in 1706
Continue in the direction of Los Silos, Buenavista,
El Palmar, and Masca. Masca is a small village which retains its
original charm. It is situated 600 meters above sea level in one
of deepest ravines on the island.
Continue on the road to Santiago del Teide, Erjos,
Ruigomez, El Tanque (it is the bypass on the left, the one towards
the viewpoint Lomo del Molino). After El Tanque, go to the Garachico
viewpoint - a spectacular view of El Garachico.
Return to Puerto de La Cruz by Icod De Los Vinos
and San Juan de La Rambla.
