• Background
    • The Singapore Stanford Partnership (SSP) is a joint effort between NTU's School of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Stanford's Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering to develop a strong, rigorous, and high quality graduate education and research program at NTU in environmental engineering and science. There is an IT component which strives to support the need to communicate between the NTU and Stanford locations for the purpose of facilitating learning. The primary scope of this project is therefore to provide suitable communication facilities to the program participants. Due to the distance between NTU and Stanford, as well as the time difference, it is crucial that we enable the best available audio, video and data communications solutions. At stake is the usability and persuasiveness of the program's operations which is directly related to the program's opportunity for success and continuity. We are endeavoring to provide a bridge that virtually narrows the distance between the students and faculty.

  • Project Scope
Classroom lectures will be administered by Stanford's Center for Professional Development (SCPD) and NTU's Center for Educational Development (CED). SCPD and CED will broadcast live lectures as well as record others for web streaming. Opportunities for discussion and collaboration will be coordinated on the departmental level. This would include online chat, online discussion groups, and small group or personal videoconferencing. We will also establish a web presence for online document management as well as group calendaring.
