About Me

I am currently an Associate Professor in the Operations, Information and Technology group at the Graduate School of Business, and am affiliated with the Woods Institute. I received my Ph.D. in Operations Research from MIT, and prior to joining Stanford I spent one year as a Goldstein Fellow in the Business Analytics and Mathematical Sciences Department at IBM Research.

Research Interests

My interests lie at the interface of operations, risk management, and finance. A lot of my work has been aimed at developing new tools for dynamic optimization under uncertainty and prescriptive analytics, and applying these to operational and contracting problems arising in complex value chains. For details, please check my research page.

I am very passionate about showcasing how quantitative modeling and prescriptive analytics can improve decision making in complex settings that humans, businesses and organizations face. I have developed and taught several MBA, undergraduate and Ph.D. classes on these topics. For more, please check my teaching page.

I am chairing the Optimization Society Best Student Paper Prize for 2018. If you know of students with very good work in theoretical or applied optimization, please encourage them to email me with an application! Details about the application are in the previous link.
