The White Tower is the oldest portion portion of the Tower of London. Built by William the Conqueror, the tower has been the physical and psychological seat of royal power in London since the Conquest.

The official Tower of London web site is really cool. The web site shows most of the places that you can tour when at the castle, as well as pictures of the Crown Jewels, which are on display in the Waterloo Barracks. The web site has an excellent section on the history of the Tower.

You can meet all sorts of weird characters in the Tower.

From the Tower you can get some great views of the Tower Bridge. This was taken on the castle's wharf.
