CalTrain Pub Tour 2002

 Saturday, June 29th

I want to know:

When will we be where?

What do I need to bring?

How do I get around?

What are my options for meals?

The Plan

CalTrain on the weekends is going away. This looks to be our last chance (for a couple of years) to ride the train to some of our favorite pubs. We gotta do it.

Step 1:

Take the #146 southbound train, arriving at

CalTrain # Destination CalTrain Station Arriving at Destination Establishment
146 Sunnyvale  12:17 Stoddard's

Your departure time to catch the #146 train will depend on your chosen departure location. We're all adults, and, at this point, we're all sober. Deal.

Steps >1:

Then catch northbound trains at

CalTrain Departure Time CalTrain #  To CalTrain Station Arriving at Destination Establishment
1:14 165 Mountain View 1:19 Tied House
2:19 169 California 2:26 Antonio's Nut House
3:26 173 Palo Alto 3:29 Gordon Biersch
4:29 177 Menlo Park 4:32 British Bankers Club
5:32 181 Redwood City 5:40  City Pub
6:40 187 San Carlos 6:45 Sneakers
7:45 191 Belmont 7:48 Ausiello's Tavern
8:48 195 Burlingame 8:59 Steelhead Brewing

Step last:

10:30 Catch the southbound train back to your starting point

CalTrain Departure Time CalTrain # To CalTrain Station Destination Establishment
10:30 196 Where You Started  Home

There is another southbound train which leaves Burlingame at 12:29. After that, you'll need to find a cab. Or catch the 234 which leaves Burlingame at 8:30 AM on Sunday.

Don't forget to get up for the World Cup Final on Sunday Morning!

The Marvel of Modern Transportation

You've got to get to a CalTrain station. Walk, bike, whatever. From then on, we ride the rails and pound the pavement. The all-weekend train pass is $9.00. You can get one at train stations with ticket facilities or on the train itself.

But I'm Hungry Now

If you wanted to stop for lunch/dinner, the thing to do would be to spend 2 hours at a location, then catch up to the group by skipping a stop. Or skip a stop and let the group catch up to you.

Can't make the whole trip? Join up when you can, and leave when you're ready.

Bring your friends!
