Okay...
You've finished reading some of the 100-word stories, and I'm sure a few of them didn't make sense. With most of my 100-word stories, they're a part of a much larger thought, or a story that's yet to be written. Looking back at these little stories makes me remember what was going through my mind when I was writing them.
Lets go through each of the stories individually, just so I can give you a sense of where it came from.
Within the synopses are a link to the stories for a refresher.
Enjoy!

1. He woke up...
This was part of a story called Legerdemain ("slight of hand"), a story I started back when I was in college. The Legerdemain was a creature that could travel from galaxy to galaxy, who's arrival was signalled by the rumbling of the clouds in the sky, like they were huge bumper cars ramming into each other. |
2. She leaned forward...
Something I've been wanting to write for a long time, but never got around to. Somebody is killed and it's up to Detective Mac Evans to find out who... and why. Did this woman mean to commit suicide, or was she murdered? Being the kind of detective he was, who always suspected everything and everybody, this was to be a short story based around one of my reacurring characters, Mac Evans. |

3. "I thought about..."
Watching an old black and white movie on Turner Classics, I have no idea who the two characters were, or what they were talking about, but somehow grease was brought up. Maybe the guy stole grease for a profit? Maybe his brother worked in a grease factory? Who knew? I just grabbed the grease part and had a little fun with it. So this really means nothing at all. Sorry. |
An evil guy who wants to take over the world inadvertantly gets hit by a car. This story just didn't get that far enough. Something like "What goes around, comes around." This was supposed to be one of the funny small side storylines in one of my stories, paying tribute to Douglas Adams. |

5. She was a... |
6. The green phone...
That's right. She really wanted to pick up that phone. This woman had a kind of phobia where immobile objects out in the open would jump up and suddenly attack her when her back was turned. She talked to somebody about it, and they suggested she face her fear by keeping in close touch with those objects. The little flash was something in her mind, something that made the phone jump at her. But it would take her time. This was the same woman in Story #2. |

7. I watched her...
A continuation of #5, I threw it in just to show the guy's point of view. Which raises the question... what would you do? Continue walking, even though something in your daily schedule changed, and something bad may have happened? |
8. I realized what...
This is a continuation from Story #1 with the Legerdemain travelling through galaxies, and different reactions from people. This was part of a series of shorts, most of them which didn't make the website. |

9. "What was that...?!"
Don't know why, but I always liked that "OWIE!" I can imagine a guy just yelling that out without thinking, then slapping a hand to his mouth immediately afterwards. This is about two guys in the office, one of them is gay and thinks the other guy is trying to hit on him, but he doesn't want the attention. |
10. "You should ask..."
In case you didn't notice, this one was written backwards, sentence by sentence. This, when written normally, is a part of Legerdemain. The old man (?) with no eyes who can see everything, and the other man who was called to this world to save the Legerdemains. Why was it written backwards? This was a memory of the man, and he can't make head or tails of what happened to him. |
And now you know...
