Optimal use of
multimedia in CALL
Research question: As the use of audio, video, and graphics is increasingly incorporated into CALL materials, educators wonder whether the use of multimedia serves as an enhancement or a distraction to language learners. Since multimedia seems to have the potential of either enhancing or distracting, under what circumstances can it be used to best advantage? Do the optimal circumstances vary depending on which medium is used?
