My inspiration for this project comes from a poem I wrote during high school, in which I compare myself to a puddle that, in the chaos of a rainstorm, loses its shape and is swept away by the currents surrounding it. However, despite all of the obstacles the puddle goes through, after the weather clears up, the puddle still remains in the exact spot it was in before. The puddle and the rainstorm symbolize how one can feel a sense of loss and confusion during times of hardship, and highlight the lows of one's life. Regardless, the puddle will always be there in the end, as life improves and gives way to resilience.
To create the project, I focused on creating three sections: the first being of the puddle before chaos, the second being the rainstorm and transformation of the puddle into a "monster", and the third being the resilience of the puddle as it still manages to thrive despite all of the harsh weather. I added rainstorm sounds, creepy and dark ambience noises, layered my voiceover three times with different voice effects such as an echo, and added transitions of silence or extreme volume to really clarify the difference stages the puddle goes through. I faded in and out most of the sound effects to create a more continuous feeling of the changes of the puddle, similar to the steady flow of water.
