My inspiration from this project came from the song "Bye Bye Blues" giving me a feeling of different life phases. This video project focuses on the life of a girl in the late 1900s as she grows up, starting from the perspective of her parents to a general 3rd point of view. My intent for this project was to showcase how time can pass so quickly, in the blink of an eye, which was emphasized by the transitions and video speed edits. The first clip of the baby wearing blue represents the song title, in which the video is indirectly saying a slow "Bye bye" to "Blue" (the child). As the video nears its end, the clip of the elderly people dancing transitions into the clip of "Blue" and her mother, symbolizing the cycle of life.
The software I used was VSDC Editor, which is a program I use often for my personal video projects. In this software, I used tools such as different transition options, fade ins and outs, speed changes, filtering the school-related clips to be black and white (with the intent to highlight the search for self-identity as a teenager and of the struggles of letting go of childhood), and making the beginning and ending clips the same to, once again, complete the cycle of life.
