Transforming an idea into digital form:

One key difference between traditional art space and the digital medium is that in the latter, a coordinate system is an inherent part of the system. (For instance, in GD - the program in which this image was produced - uses a Cartesian coordinate system with an origin at the top-left of the drawing screen.)

When dealing with simple geometric figures such as lines, triangles, squares, circles, etc. this inherent coordinate system grants an exceeding amount of control over the work.

This piece highlights the extent to which I incorporated mathematical structures behind my work: a design choice I had employed throughout the many assignments of MAS110. In this particular work, I mimicked the central diagonal line that exists in the original Bauhaus painting with the linear line y = 3x - 300 (keeping in mind that y is positive in the "down" direction). Then, by utilizing the ideas from elementary algebra, I was able to construct an image with exactly parallel lines and perpendicular angles.
