Assignment 9, Problem 2

In his eagerness to experiment with emerging artistic ideas and techniques, Marcel Duchamp has been a key figure in MAS110. These three attempts to "count to 100 in a Duchampian fashion" reflect upon the dynamic and playful nature of the famous artist's works. ("Everything is descending a damn staircase!")

One common element is the parabolic placement of the numbers, which, to me, convey a sense of motion (as in the uniform acceleration of a particle).

Equipped with improved technical skill, I incorporated more and more aspects of Duchamp's work with each attempt: first, only the figure; then the motion itself. This series of works show a convergence of this rather offbeat assignment with elements of Duchamp's works.
