Course announcements

For Thursday (Oct 7) class, please read Aviv Nevo's online notes (here) and familiraize yoursleves with the two Hausman papers on the reading list.
For Tuesday and Thursday (Oct 12,14) classes, please read Bresnahan (1987), Berry (1994), Berry, Levinsohn, and Pakes (1995) and Nevo (2000). Try to understand the main issues; you can skip the details (you will have to deal with the details later, in your work on problem set 1).
There is no assigned reading for Thursday (Oct 21), which will focus on theory. If you cannot handle it and must read something, you can read Chapter 8 of Tirole.
For Tuesday (Oct 26) class, please read Chapter 1 of Sutton.
For Thursday (Oct 28) class, please read Bresnahan and Reiss (1991).
For Thursday (Nov 18) class, please read Hendricks, Pinkse, and Porter (REStud, 2003).
Reading for the two classes on Tuesday (Nov 30): familiarize yourselves with Jovanovic (1982), Hopenhayn (1992), and Olley and Pakes (1995).
Reading for the last class (Dec 2): familiarize yourselves with Pakes (1986), Rust (1987), Maskin and Tirole (1988a), and Ericson and Pakes (1995).
