Dave and I decided to go on a road-trip for the second leg of our vacation so we set out on Sunday, September 21st drove through Yosemite Nat'l park to Inyo National to see the oldest living thing on earth- Methuselah. We hiked a 4.5mi loop of the Methuselah trail and still had time to setup camp in one day. We camped at Grandview campground @ 8600ft elevation. The campsite was very nice and there were fewer campers than we expected. The next day we drove through Nevada to Utah. Stayed in Cedar City for the night and headed to Bryce Canyon. Then drove toward National Monument to camp but ran out of time so we succumb to roadside camping in Capitol Reef National Park. Wednesday, Sept 24th, we drove through some amazing meadows, canyons, ranches on the way to Santa Fe. Dave was ecstatic when he discovered that Santa Fe National Forest had a 30-mile dirt road through the park so he put the Subaru to test. The car handled the rough road pretty well. We stayed the night in Sata Fe and dined at Fuego in La Posada De Sante fe Resort & Spa-Talk about a big change from the night before (camping food). The next morning we visited Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, shopped at The Plaza, and had lunch at Mark Miller's Coyote Café rooftop Cantina. We drove to Arizona and stayed in the historical town of Hollbrook. Next day went to Sedona, setup camp and hiked to the base of Cathedral Rock. No vortex experience, though. Next day, we drove all day on and off the historical route 66 to California. Stayed the night in Barstow. The final day, was spent driving on back-roads through San Joaqin Valley & Monterey county past Pinnacles Nat'l park all the way back to Palo Alto. I've posted a few pics from our trip, enjoy!
