Since 2002, I have been studying and living with Kabir poetry and music in oral-performative situations. Here is a description of my book in progress. I’m moving optimistically toward completion of the manuscript in 2011. Bodies of Song.pdf

Since 2003, my book project has been closely intertwined with the films and other media projects of Shabnam Virmani and her team in Bangalore and beyond. To see the riches available there, link to the Kabir Project.

In 2009, Seagull Books in Calcutta published my book on the relationship of the 15th-century poet Kabir and the great 20th-century Hindustani classical singer Kumar Gandharva: Singing Emptiness: Kumar Gandharva Performs the Poetry of Kabir.
Included with the book is a CD of 5 nirguṇ bhajans sung by Kumarji in private performances and never before released to the public.Kabir_Oral_Traditions_files/Bodies%20of%20Song.pdfhttp://www.kabirproject.orghttp://www.seagullbooks.org/http://www.seagullbooks.org/http://www.seagullbooks.org/shapeimage_1_link_0shapeimage_1_link_1shapeimage_1_link_2shapeimage_1_link_3shapeimage_1_link_4
