Peter McMahon Postdoc, Department of Applied Physics, Stanford University.

I work jointly in the Quantum Information Science group lead by Prof. Yoshihisa Yamamoto, and in the group of Prof. Hideo Mabuchi.

During my Ph.D., I worked on aspects of optical single qubit control and measurement for qubits implemented using electron and hole spins in semiconductor quantum dots. As a postdoc, I am (primarily) working on using networks of optical parametric oscillators (with feedback) for performing optimization and sampling computations.

I will be moving to the School of Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University as an assistant professor in July 2019. I will be starting a group working on both theory and experiment related to the physics of computation (including but not limited to quantum computation, quantum annealing, quantum simulation, as well as non-quantum unconventional computing). If you are interested in potentially joining as a graduate student or postdoc and would like to learn more, or you run a group and are interested in discussing potential collaboration, please feel free to e-mail me.
