· Scotty Bauhs Invitational—10/04/14

· The momentum of each week team performance continued again at this hotly (literal and figurative) contested 2.95 mile course in Pleasanton. Mustang teams came away with victories in Sophomore Boys, Jr. Boys, F/S Girls, Jr./Sr. Girls, and second place in the Freshmen Boys.

· A plethora of meet and school records fell to the wayside at this meet. Elena Kamas started of the day by winning the F/S Girls race in a new meet record of 17:48, which also made her the third fastest runner of all-time for the course for any grade. Lindsay Allen placed third overall in 18:14 and moved to 11th overall performance for the course, and to number two on the sophomore course list; and Jewell Milesi was seventh overall and moved to #24th on the same list. While Jillian Obrien was 12th overall, and moved to #17 on the Freshman Girls course list.

· In the Jr./Sr. Girls race, Hannah Allen placed second place overall in 18:31 to move to #5 on the all-time seniors list,  and to #14 on the overall course list. Cameron Mackay and Vincent Li finished third and fifth respectively in the Freshman Boys race to move to #6 and #26 respectively on that list. Cameron's time also set a new HHS Freshman school record. In the Sophomore Boys race, Max Sawyer won in scintillating fashion and moved to #10 on that list, and also set a new HHS Sophomore school record.

· Collectively for this meet, your Mustangs won four out of the six races of the day, plus a second place finish. While setting a F/S Girls course record, and breaking numerous HHS School Records in the process. This by far is the best single day haul by any HHS cross country team I've ever witnessed. Congrats to all their amazing performances thus far.

· RAM Invitational—09/04/14

· So at the Ram Invite held at Westmoor HS in Daly City, the Mustangs performed in fine fashion by winning  Var. Girls and Frosh/Soph Boys team titles; 2nd place in the Var. Boys, 3rd place in the JV Boys, 5th place in the JV Girls, and 7th place in the F/S Girls team titles respectively. At the end of the day, Mustangs runners came away with a total of 10 school team records. In the Var. Girls race, Lindsay Allen placed second overall, and came away with school records in VG, Sophomore and team school records; Elena Kamas placed third overall, and came away with HHS freshman and team school records; and Hannah Allen was fifth overall and also came away with a team school record and a PR in the process.

· Max Sawyer led his team to victory in the F/S Boys Team title by winning in a new HHS F/S school record, plus recording the fastest time of the day in all races by a F/S runner. In the JV Girls race, Whitney Leiberman won, and Nicole Aufricht placed second to be lead their team to fifth place in the team scoring. Jillian Obrien ran a gritty race to placed third overall in the F/S Girls race. While Chris Reed placed ninth overall to lead Var. Boys to a second place team title effort.

· Woodbridge Invitational—09/19-20/2014

· Homestead competed exceptionally well in the country's only  cross country night meet. Once again, Elena Kamas had an amazing day by leading the VG to a 9th place team finish out of 21 teams in the VG Rated Race. Kamas' finished 3rd overall out of 154 runner field in a time of 17:19, which gave her an average of 5:47 per mile for the 3-mile course, and in the process, broke and set three more new school records for Var. Girls, Freshman Girls, and overall team time of 1:32:05. It's also good to note that Kamas' time placed her 35th overall out of about 4000 girls that competed on Friday and Saturday. Lindsay Allen finished 15th in a new sophomore school record, and Hannah Allen was 31st in a new PR for top honors in said race.

· Other highlights of the day saw the Var. Boys took 18th placed in the Var. Rated Race out of 30 teams. Joey Gronovius led his team by finishing 65th in 15:42, while in the Sophomore Boys Gold Race, Max Sawyer took 8th place overall to lead his team to a 4th place finish. The Sophomore Boys team time of 1:23:42 broke and set a new school record. Overall, we came away from this meet by setting 5 new school records in this early stage of the season. Congrats to all for their awesome efforts.

· Ed Sias Invitational—09/13/2014

· Two weeks ago at the Ed Sias Invitational in Martinez, your Mustangs broke four school records while running some fast times in the process. The Varsity Girls finished 3rd out of 21 schools; Varsity Boys finished 10th out of 22 schools; JV Boys finished 1st out of 17 teams, and the Frosh/Soph Boys finished 2nd out of 28 teams.

· Highlights of the meet were: Freshman Elena Kamas set the tone for the entire team in the Var. Girls race by placing 4th overall in 12:21 for the hilly two-mile course. In the process, Elena set a new Var. Girls, freshman, and team school records. Tenth grader Lindsay Allen was 9th with a time of 12:34 to set a new sophomore school record, while Sr. Hannah Allen placed 11th in 12:43 to round off the top VG places.

· The Var. Boys were led by Jr. Chris Reed in 17th place with a time of 11:03. In the F/S Boys race, freshmen Varun Tandon and Vincent Li placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the same time of 12:27.

· Earlybird Invitational—9/6/2014

· Homestead girls team set the bar very high from the get-go. In the Freshman girls 3-mile run,  Elena Kamas ran out of real estate while in pursuit and missed winning the race by a slim two seconds in  18:27. That time established a new varsity girls Homestead HS record, and also set a new freshman school record in the process. Elena's time also was the third fastest of the day when all girls races and times were combined, and made her 27th faster runner in Toro Park x-country history.

· Next up was Lindsay Allen in the Sophomore race. Lindsay made light work of her competition by winning by a 23 second margin in a new HHS sophomore school record of 18:38. Her time was the fourth faster time of the day when all races were combined. Last, and certainly not least, Hannah Allen place fourth in the seniors race in 19:34 which is her fastest debut ever for this race.

· On the boys side, Cameron Mackay placed 13th overall in 17:51 to lead the freshman team to a fourth place finish. Matt Bennett placed 13th overall in the sophomore race in 17:19 to lead his team to a fifth place finish. Chris Reed in the Junior race ran a personal best of 16:49 for 22nd place, and help his team to a 3rd place finish.

· Collectively on the girls side, the team would come away with a new HHS school record team time of 97:47, and moves them into the top 10 all-time list at # 9 overall at Toro Park. An amazing feat at this juncture of when considering that this is their first meet of the season. Congrats to the entire team and their incredible performances.

· Next up is the Ed Sias Invitational in Martinez on Saturday, September 13th.
