January 2009 Dave Skibbe gives an invited presentation at the PAG meeting in San Diego CA. 
March 2009 Ginny speaks at Cold Spring Harbor meeting on Plant Genomes. 
April - June 2009 Gunther Doehlemann visits the lab to participate in Ustilago maydis experiments, funded by an EMBO travel fellowship. 
February 21 - March 3, 2010 Ginny attends the Molecular Basis of Plant Development conference in Vienna and presents a seminar at the MPI-Marburg while visitng Gunther Doehlemann and his lab group. 
March 18-21, 2010 Dave Skibbe, John Fernandes, Tim Kelliher, and Ginny attend the Maize Genetics Conference in Riva del Garda, Italy. We had a great time at the meeting and as tourists in Rome. 
June - September 2010 Julia Qüesta -- currently a Ph.D. student in Paula Casati's group in Rosario, Argentina -- will visit the lab to study Mu reactivation by UV-B radiation. 
February 2011 Aloha! Kelliher and Ginny Walbot on Moloka’i pollinating corn. 
May - September 2011 Visiting Ph.D. student David Schuler joins the lab to learn about corn – Ustilago maydis interaction; David is training in Jörg Kämper’s lab in Germany. 
June - September 2011 Summer corn field season with students Stephanie Wang, Jason Cheng, Francis Ge, Stephen Han, Hamda Khan, Blaine Marchant, Graham Marchant, and Maia Pierce. 
August 2011 - August 2012 Sabbatical professor Gao Li joins the lab to analyze corn – Ustilago maydis interaction. 
October 2011 Ginny makes a seminar visit at Purdue University. 
March 2012 Ginny makes a seminar visit at Cambridge University, UK. 
March 2012 Maize Genetics meeting in Portland, Oregon.  
August 31 2012 Tim Kelliher successfully completes the oral defense of his Ph.D. thesis. Written thesis submitted in March 2013.
March 2013 Ginny and Davide Sosso catch up with the Ustilago maydis research community at the Asilomar Fungal Genetics conference.
April 2013 Ginny gives a seminar at the new Sainsbury Lab, Cambridge UK.
Summer 2013 Alexandra Matei, a Ph.D. student at the MPI Marburg in Gunther Doehlemann’s lab, visits for several weeks to learn about corn. Karina van der Linde, from the same lab, arrives to start her German two year postdoctoral fellowship.
February-March 2014 Ginny and Han Zhang are visitors at the Stanford University center at Peking University, Beijing China funded by Stanford in a special program to help us understand the state of the art in China. We gave seminars almost every day at a different institutions, hosted by faculty and students. We learned a lot about the state of plant biology research in China (this field is super active!!!) and our Chinese hosts learned about maize anther development and phasiRNA biogenesis in anthers. We also took a 5 hour high speed train to Wuhan to visit Qifa Zhang and his lab; they study rice anther development and environmental male sterility.
March 2014 Maize Genetics meeting in Beijing China attended by Rachel Egger, Han Zhang, John Fernandes, Gillian Nan, and Ginny. Everyone presented a poster.
April 28, 2014 Blake Meyers visits and presents the Dept. Biology seminar.
