Project 3 Process
When I first listened to Bye Bye Blues, I was moved by its relaxed and cheerful melody. At the same time, I begin to think about how to present it with a unique visual part. According to Michel Chion anempathetic usually create a more intense feeling. Therefore, I want to give Bye Bye Blues a tense, disturbing video. I thought about many types of tension, like scare movie clips, crime films, and even using pure color to create tension (I found a weakness in managing colors and gave up this idea). Finally, I began to reflect on the name “Bye Bye Blues”. I can just interpret blues as the color blue. Then blue is gone. What is blue? Then the idea came: Bye bye blue ocean.
During the video editing process, not finding ideal video material really made me a lot of headaches. I am not satisfied with the beginning of the video because it is so hard to find videos that can really portray the primitive life of humans. Besides, using two separate screens is cool, involving visual synergy, but it doubles my workload. If I have more time and work with a painter partner, I think the video will show the idea clearer and work better to combine audio and video.
