Here is the information about the tools and libraries we will use this quarter.

I want to install Xcode on my Mac. What do I do?

Download Apple's Xcode tools version 2.5 from developer.apple.com (you may need to create an Apple login, it's free). Then download our CS106 libraries for Xcode and install this package. Check out Handout #5M that goes through the installation in more details and includes screenshots to help guide you through the steps.

I want to install Visual Studio on my PC. What do I do?

Microsoft has graciously provided VS2005 for students who wish to install it on their own machines. Read Handout #5P to learn how to get download and install it. You will also need to download our CS106 libraries for VS2005 and install them.

I want to use the public cluster computers. What do I do?

Campus Macs should have Xcode 2.5 and CS106 libraries installed. Campus PCs should have VS2005 and CS106 libraries installed.

I already have VS2003 installed on my machine and don't want to upgrade. What do I do?

We have a version of the CS106 libriares for VS2003 that you are welcome to use.

I want to work on Linux. What do I do?

We are working on a cross-platform Eclipse-based solution that should work on Linux, which might be available for testing this quarter. We'll update you on the progress as we go.
