Nayaki Nayyar, SAP

Bio

Nayaki Nayyar is the General Manager and Global Head of IoT and Innovation GTM at SAP. During her 20 year career, Nayaki has held various leadership positions at SAP and in the Industry. In her most recent role, Nayaki was leading the SAP Cloud for Customer Engagement business comprised of sales, service and social engagement SaaS and mobile solution offerings; growing the business significantly over 10 quarters. Prior to joining SAP in 2011, Nayaki was CTO at Valero Energy Corporation where she led the Enterprise Architecture and Development department during the company's rapid growth into the largest independent refining company in North America leading many digital transformation initiatives. She started her career at Shell where she gained deep industry experience working on operational technology and enterprise software systems. Nayaki has a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, a master's in Computer Science and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program.

Abstract

The number of connected things is expected to grow to 50-75 billion by 2020. The long term impact of the Internet of Things is a huge however, it is important for companies to adopt the first wave of IoT technologies to capitalize on the opportunity and stay ahead of competition. Today more than 30% of sensors are in industrial environment and by 2017, industrial uses of IoT will outpace consumer IoT. How does this impact business strategy today? According to McKinsey, Over 40% of the global S&P 500 companies will not be around in the next 10 years unless they evolve and adapt to the massive digital transformation trend. Companies must realize that the Internet of Things is not just a vision of the future. It is a reality today with many companies shaping their future with this transformative trend. The talk will present real-world examples of companies who are early adopters of IoT. These companies have not only gained significant return on investment by improving their key business processes and achieving higher operational efficiency but also achieved high levels of innovation by creating new business models, products and services. The Internet of Things is shaping the future of SAP customers businesses. The talk will discuss SAP’s value proposition to customers who are just getting started with their IoT strategy. It will discuss also SAP’s plans for IoT in 2016, our focus industries and key solutions. SAP offers an end-to-end IOT solution including platform and applications that enable IoT from core of our customers businesses to the edge of the network. SAP is leveraging its vast network of technology and SI partners who build on SAP’s core IoT platform to deliver innovative, industry-focused solutions to their customers. SAP is enabling IoT from intelligence on things-level to delivering real tangible outcomes that will transform the way our customers run their businesses. Real life examples of SAP customers will be shared; they are already innovating using IoT and have gained tangible outcomes such as new and improved products and services, new revenue sources, and changing their business model from sale of products to services.
