COLUMBIA

In Colombia, Capybaras are known as the chigüiro. They tend to live on the open plains in the eastern region of Colombia. They are considered a real delicacy and are easy to spot in the dry season.

PERU

The Capybara is native to South America and one of the most widespread of Peruvian mammals. They are the easiest wild creature to see on a wildlife tour in Peru. It's close, but very large, cousin of the Guinea Pig, which is also indigenous to Peru.

VENEZUELA

Capybaras live near rivers and lakes in Venezuela's tropical wetlands. Most of Venezuela's wetlands is home and a critical habit to a number of endangered speices including Capybaras.Venezuela is the only country conducting large-scale, regulated hunting of Capybaras.
