Free Shuttle Service

A complimentary shuttle service that connects the Workshop location and several hotels is provided for all participants from September 12-14. The detailed schedule will be published closer to the Workshop date and will be available in the brochure.

Complimentary shuttle service will be provided between Creekside Inn, Crowne Plaza, the Sheraton Hotel, and the Stanford campus.  Conference guests will be dropped off at the Galvez Lot, from which the conference can be reached on foot.  Guests staying at nearby hotels may use any stop on this line for transportation to or from the conference.

Uber and Lyft

You are encouraged to use Uber or Lyft for easy transportation. Guests to IWSHM 2017 may find it convenient to make use of an online transportation app to navigate the Palo Alto area.  Shared ride rates per person from Crowne Hill Plaza to the Stanford campus range from $5 - $10 per person per trip.  For more information about online transportation apps, click Lyft or Uber.

Uber/Lyft Directions:​

  • To get as close to the conference location as possible, tell your driver that you would like to be dropped off at The Stanford Oval.  This is the large lawn in front of campus.​ ​
  • The Oval is quite large!  Tell your driver that you would like to be dropped off “right in front of the school.”  They will drop you off right across from Serra Mall.​
  • Walk from Palm Drive to Serra Mall (Serra Mall is very close!).​ ​
  • To reach the conference, simply walk to the West on Serra Mall for about 300 feet.​

    • Parking

    Galvez Lot is the dedicated parking space for the event: Galvez Lot (L-96), Stanford, CA 94305, on September 12-14, 2017.
    Please pay at the pay machines, using the event code 7546 for an all-day parking rate of $8.00 per day. If arriving after 10:45am, please use the incremental option without the event code. Cash, or credit/debit cards are accepted. Metered parking is enforced Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After 4pm and on weekends, parking is free throughout the University.

    There are by-the-hour parking spots around campus and closer to the Workshop location, but at a higher rate and on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please consult the instructions here for more details.

    Driving Directions to Galvez Lot​:​

  • Conference attendees who are driving should park at Galvez Lot.​
  • The best way to access Galvez Lot is to approach from El Camino Real (California State Route 82).
  • If you are approaching from the East (Creekside, Crowne Plaza), turn left onto Galvez St.  You should see Stanford Stadium on your left just before this turn.​
  • If you are approaching from the West (Sheraton, Marriott), turn right onto Galvez St.  You should see the Town & Country Village on your left just before this turn.​
  • You should now be driving on Galvez.  Keep left; you will pass Stanford Stadium (it’s on your left).​
  • After 0.3 mi, you will see Galvez St on your right.  Look for signs for event parking.
  • Enter Galvez Lot by turning right.  There will be a booth with a Parking and Transportation employee to direct you to an available spot.​

    • Stanford Marguerite Shuttle

    Stanford provides a free shuttle service around campus. Please visit here for more details.

    Guests staying at the Stanford Guest House can take the Stanford Marguerite Shuttle from SLAC to the conference free of charge.  The shuttle route serving the Stanford Guest House is the 'SLAC' shuttle route.  The SLAC shuttle operates from 6:30 a.m. to 9:05 p.m. between SLAC and the Oval.  Route map and scheduling information can be found here.

    From and To the Airport

    If you are not driving, the easiest way to get to Stanford from the nearby airports (SFO and SJC) is to use a shared ride van service. Please visit the Supershuttle website. Public transportation is also an option. Bay Area Travel Guide.
